Obituary Mrs. Pearl Parker
Mollie Parker was born February 14, 1881, in the town of Uvalde, Uvalde County Tex., to Elizabeth Lee and A. H. Barrett.
Her early girlhood was spent in the pioneer country of Pecos County, N. M., and her parrents later moved to Beaver County, Okla.
On June 20 1900, she was married to Pearl Parker and to this union were born four children.
After her marriage, she and her husband settled in Lipscomb county Tex., and from 1905 the lived on the ranch which is now known as the Pearl Parker Ranch.
Since early in life, she has been an active member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving her are he four children: Bruce Parker of Pampa, Tex; Verner Parker of Follett, Tex; Austa Gilson of Shattuck; and Marvine Kellogg of Oakland, Calif. Three sisters: Mrs Nell Petty of Merced Calif., Mrs. Ella Wallace of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Clara Nichols of Denver, Colo. Ten grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Parker was truly a pioneer woman having moved from Uvalde County, Tex. in early childhood to Pecos county N. M., were she spent her girlhood until she was 12 years old at which time she and her parrents came by wagon train to no-man's land in which is now Beaver county Okla.
This was in 1892 and when the wagon train came through what is now Amarillo, Tex., there was just a main street, some grocery stores and a post office. She lived with her parents in Beaver County until she married Pearl Parker in 1900. Then she and her new husband acquired a ranch 10 miles south of Follett where she lived with exception of intervals when she lived in Higgins so the children could go to school.
In 1960 she acquied a home in Shattuck where she resided until her death. She always liked the ranch and claimed it was her home although she lived in Shattuck. Her main interest was her flowers and yard and she also liked fishing and went fishing every opportunity she had. She lived by herself but usually some of her children were with her each weekend and their welfare was her chief concern.
