     John Barrett was born circa 1844 at Georgia.1 He was the son of George W Barrett and Nancy Green Treadaway.1

On 23 September 1850 John Barrett was enumerated in the household of George W Barrett on the 1850 U. S. census for The 848th District, Paulding County, Georgia as John Barrat, 6 years old, birthplace of Georgia. Also enumerated in the household were Nancy Green Treadaway, Mary Jane Barrett, Sarah Anne Barrett, Emiline Barrett, Martha Barrett and George W Barrett.1

On 3 July 1860 John Barrett was enumerated in the household of George W Barrett on the 1860 U. S. census for Elyton Post Office, Woods Precinct, Jefferson County, Alabama as John Barret, 15 years old, birthplace of Georgia, occupation of Farm Laborer. Also enumerated in the household were Nancy Green Treadaway, Sarah Anne Barrett, Emiline Barrett, Martha Barrett, George W Barrett, Aaron Hezekiah Barrett, Benjamin Barrett, David Barrett and Durel F Barrett.2
